Is The Leatherman Wave Multi Tool For Dad?

Leatherman Wave Multitool

Leatherman Wave Multitool

You be the judge…

I have had my Leatherman Wave Multi Tool for almost four years now (I got it for a birthday, not Father’s day ;-) ), and it ranks up as one of the most used tools I’ve ever had.

I work in the trades, mostly running heavy equipment installing underground utilities, and my Leatherman is on my side every hour of the working day.  It gets used (and sometimes abused) and has never let me down.

I break out my Leatherman whether I need to open man holes, cut wire, pull wire, cut pipe, work on my machine…you name it, the list goes on and on.  There have been many times when other tradesmen have gone to their van to get a tool, only to return to find me doing the job with my Leatherman Wave.

The knives are locking, and easy to resharpen (even if you’ve used your blade as a mini shovel – I told you I abuse it!), and they hold their edge for a reasonable amount of time.

I have even found myself wearing my Leatherman when the wife and I go shopping.  Thinking to myself (probably in some MacGyver type of fantasy) that if something happens to the car, my Leatherman’s all I’ll need to get us back home! ;-)

The only draw back that I have found is that the phillips/flathead screw driver bit easily comes out of it’s socket, to be lost forever (I’ve had to get a few replacements myself), so tell Dad to watch and make sure his bit stays in place!

The Leatherman Wave Multi Tool really is a handy and remarkable tool.  It is easy to use, and comes with a lifetime warranty, so you know your Leatherman’s  got quality workmanship, and is built to last.

So if your dad is resourceful, self reliant and loves to be prepared, the Leatherman Wave Muti Tool is definitely for him!

Happy Father’s Day!

What Is The Most Popular Fathers Day Gift?

It seems as though a lot of people are wanting to know what is the most popular fathers day gift.  As gift experts, it is our job to find out.

It seems as though the necktie continues to be a gift for Dad(although as a Father I can’t say it would be on my list of popular gifts), according to the National Retail Federation.  The NRF also predicts this year that consumers will spend about $94.32 on Dad.

The Hot Gift Guys think the gift to give this year is something the whole family can share in, and here we have decided to put our own spin on it.

The most popular fathers day gift to give this year (Drum roll please…) …Time.  There it is.  And it’s inexpensive!  There’s nothing Dad would enjoy more than having a whole day planned around spending time with his family.  No worries, no work, no bills, nothing to fix…just time spent with no stress.

Wake up in the morning, make him breakfast, pack a lunch, and spend the day at the park playing, running, catching, fishing, whatever everyone enjoys.  Make it simple, bring the whole family, and let Dad relax and enjoy a day with all his loved ones around.

Neck ties may have been popular in the past, but Time is what is the most popular fathers day gift this year.  And the memories you make spending the day together, will last a lot longer than the blue and white striped fashion statement you got Dad last year. :-)

Inexpensive Father's Day Gift Ideas - The Grill Master

Inexpensive Father's Day Gift Ideas - The Grill Master

In this installment of our series on inexpensive Father’s Day gift ideas, we’re going to focus on the Dad who likes to cook – with fire.   There’s just something about cooking over fire that Dad’s love.  It probably goes back to our ancestors – the caveman.

But, modern cavemen now have tools that go way beyond rubbing two sticks together  ;-) .  And here’s a list of those tools that won’t cost you more than $20, and Dad will love them!

Weber 7416 Rapidfire Charcoal Chimney Starter-

The best way to start Charcoal.  In about 20 minutes you’ll have nice red coals putting off even heat.  And you don’t need any lighter fluid.  So there’s no impurities going into your food.

Charcoal Companion Non-Stick Reversible Rib Rack-

Dad’s love smoking ribs – and can probably do it without a rack.  But sometimes having the right tool can make all the difference in the finished product.  That’s definitely the case here.  The Rib Rack will make Dad’s next batch of smoked ribs easier for him, with a more consistent finished product!

Charcoal Companion Digital Fork Thermometer-

The best 19.99 you’ll spend.  If Dad doesn’t have a meat thermometer, this is a great one.  I use mine all the time, whether I’m smoking or cooking on the grill.  Dad will know when the meat’s done to perfection every time!

2″ BBQ Grill Thermometer-

This is a must have, especially if Dad likes slow cooking meats to get a nice smoked flavor.  He’ll know immediately when his fire needs more coals, or if he’s got it burning just a little too hot.  And it’s easy to install!

Kingsford 3-Piece Kentucky BBQ Tool Set-

A good grilling tool set always comes in handy.  That way Dad doesn’t have to use the tongs or spatulas from the kitchen (which are usually too short and cause arm hairs to singe ;-) ).

If Dad loves to cook on the grill, then he’s sure to love any of these inexpensive Father’s Day gift ideas.  And I’d be willing to be there’s at least one item on our list that Dad doesn’t have!
